Hair Care Guide

Washing

Start with a clarifying shampoo to remove any buildup, residue, or coating that may have been applied during production or handling. Follow with a sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoo to restore softness and hydration.

Gently detangle the hair with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb before washing. Always wash in a downward motion from weft to ends to prevent tangling or matting. Avoid scrubbing or twisting the hair.

Pro Tip: Shampoo only as needed — over-washing can strip the hair of its natural moisture.

Conditioning

After washing, apply a hydrating conditioner or deep treatment from mid-length to ends, avoiding the wefts. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with cool water to help seal the cuticle and lock in moisture.

Pro Tip: Deep condition every 1–2 weeks to maintain softness and restore hydration, especially after heat styling or coloring.

Detangling

Detangling is one of the most important steps in maintaining raw hair. Always begin from the ends and work your way upward toward the weft. Use a wide-tooth comb, paddle brush, or detangling brush designed for textured hair. For curly textures, your fingers may work best to gently separate the curls without causing frizz or breakage.

It’s best to detangle while the hair is damp and lightly conditioned — this helps reduce tension on the strands. Apply a light leave-in conditioner or detangling mist to soften the hair before brushing. Hold each section firmly near the weft while detangling to prevent unnecessary pulling or stress on the tracks.

Be patient and take your time — raw hair has intact cuticles and should always be handled with care to preserve its natural longevity, bounce, and shine.

Drying

Once the hair has been cleansed and conditioned, gently remove excess water using a microfiber towel or soft T-shirt. Avoid rough towels, as they can cause friction and lead to frizz or shedding. Do not wring, twist, or shake the hair to speed up drying — this can disrupt the natural curl pattern and weaken the wefts over time.

For best results, air dry the hair flat or on a wig stand, allowing airflow through the strands. If you choose to use a blow dryer, always work in sections and use a low-heat setting with a diffuser attachment to preserve the natural texture. Avoid excessive heat, as raw hair responds much like natural hair and can become dry if overexposed.

If you’re drying curly textures, gently scrunch the curls upward while drying to help maintain their shape and definition. Once fully dry, separate the curls with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb for added volume.

Styling

Always apply a heat protectant before using any heat tools. Avoid heavy oils or silicone-based products that can weigh the hair down. Lightweight serums or leave-in conditioners work best for shine and moisture.

Coloring & Customization

Ansè hair can be colored, toned, or bleached, but it’s best to have this done by a professional colorist experienced with raw hair. Because each bundle is unprocessed, lift results may vary slightly between pieces.

Caring for Raw Curly Hair

Raw curly hair requires extra care and consistency to maintain its natural beauty. Because our Cambodian Curly and Deep Cambodian Curly textures are 100% raw and unprocessed, every strand behaves just like natural curls — meaning they crave moisture, gentle handling, and routine care. Always detangle while the hair is damp and saturated with conditioner or a leave-in product to avoid breakage and shedding. Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to separate curls carefully, starting from the ends and working upward.

Hydration is key — deep condition regularly to keep the curls soft, defined, and manageable. Avoid heavy oils or products that cause buildup, as they can weigh down the curl pattern. Instead, opt for lightweight creams or leave-in conditioners to maintain bounce and definition. When drying, scrunch the curls gently and allow them to air dry or use a diffuser on low heat to preserve the natural texture.

Proper care ensures your curls stay full, frizz-free, and long-lasting. With the right routine, your Ansè curls will continue to look lush, defined, and effortless — just as raw hair should.
